Day 20: Flic-en-Flac beach

Almost every time we travel to Mauritius, we rent a house in Flic-en-Flac, on the south west coast of the island. One of the main reason is because it's not too far away from my in-laws so we can visit them every couple of days, and the other more important reason is because it's where you can find the biggest public beach in Mauritius.

Over the years, the coastal line has been covered by hotels, which have their own private beaches. Officially, they are open to everyone, but in reality, Mauritian people don't really have access to the hotels' beaches because they're supposedly "reserved" for customers.

Flic-en-Flac is very appreciated by the locals and tourists alike. It's not too crowded, there are a lot of facilities in the village like a supermarket, shops, post office, restaurants and so on, and the nightlife is also very lively. A lot of Mauritians like to rent houses in Flic-en-Flac for the week-end or for special events like weddings and birthdays.

Any house you'll rent in the village will be of walking distance from the beach, and you'll see below why we love staying there...
